In-Room Dining in Desktell
- Desktell enables hotels, villas, and resorts to manage in-room dining requests efficiently by allowing guests to place food orders directly through the Guest Service Portal, ensuring a smooth and satisfying dining experience.
In-Room Dining Settings
- Customize how the Food feature appears on the Guest Service Portal. Set display details, define meal types, enable pre-ordering, and configure SLAs to ensure timely delivery and elevate the in-room dining experience.
How to update the In-Room Dining Settings ?

Navigate to your workspace
- Log in to your desktell account using proper credentials.
- Click on your workspace link to enter the workspace.

Navigate to the Customize CSP

Click on the Administration tab in the top navigation bar.

In the Administration section, click on the Customize CSP tab in the side navigation bar.

In the Desktell CSP, navigate to the Settings tab under the IN-ROOM DINING label.

Update the In-Room Dining Settings by filling in the necessary details:
- Display Name: Give a suitable name for the in-room dining tile visible in the room service portal.
- Display Description: Give a short description for the in-room dining tile.
- Display Order: Provide the display order number at which the tile will be visible in the portal.
- Tax Name: Enter the appropriate tax name (e.g. VAT, GST, and more.)
- Pre Meal Type: Specify the pre-meal type that is to be displayed in a ";" separated pattern.(e.g. Breakfast;Brunch;Lunch;Snacks;Dinner)
- Enable Pre Ordering: Checkbox to update the active status of the pre-meal ordering.
- SLA (Service Level Agreement): Provide the SLA time to fulfill the room supply request.

Click on the Save button to update the service request settings.
NOTE:
- The tile active status can be updated using the IsActive checkbox(click on the checkbox, then save the updates by clicking in the Save button).

Menu Category
- Create and manage menu categories like Starters, Main Course, Desserts, Beverages, and more to organize food menus, making it easier for guests to browse and place in-room dining orders.
How to create a new Menu Category ?

Navigate to the Customize CSP tab in the Administration section.

Add a New Menu Category by following the steps given below
- In Desktell CSP, navigate to the Menu Categories tab under IN-ROOM DINING label.
- In the Menu Categories tab, click on the New Category button at the top, and fill in the following details -
- Category Name: Name the category to label and group in-room dining menu dishes for easy guest access.
- Display Order: Specify the display order number to arrange the order of the menu categories on the in-room dining tile.
- Click on the Save button to create a new menu category.

To update the active status of the menu category, click on the IsActive toggle button and accept the dialog box message for the respective menu category.

To edit the existing menu category, click on the respective category name link, make the necessary updates, and click on the Save button.
How to add a New Dish in the In-Room Dining ?

Navigate to the Customize CSP tab in the Administration section.

Add a New dish by following the steps given below -
- In Desktell CSP, navigate to the Menu tab under the IN-ROOM DINING label.
- In the Menu tab, click on the Add New Dish button at the top, and fill in the following details -
- Dish Name: Provide a name to the dish.
- Dish Code: Assign a unique code to the dish.
- Description: Give a suitable description to the dish.
- Dish Price: Specify the price of the dish.
- Category: Select an appropriate category for the dish from the dropdown list.
- Dish Tax: Specify the dish tax as a percentage.
- Click on the Save button to create a new dish.

To update the active status of the dish, click on the IsActive toggle button and accept the dialog box message for the respective dish.

To edit the dish, follow the below given steps -
- Navigate to the Menu tab.
- Click on the Edit Dish button of the respective dish that needs to be updated.
- Make the necessary changes in the dish.
- Click on the Save button to save the changes.
NOTE: The in-room dining requests submitted by the guests via the service portal will be visible in the Orders tab under IN-ROOM DINING label.
